It is thought by many researchers that Henry Cartmill that married Sarah Anderson on 27 May 1776 in Botetourt County, Virginia is likely the same Henry Cartmill that married Elinor Cartmill in the preceding year on 3 July 1776 [Henry would have been 21 at his first marriage]. Eleanor likely died shortly after their marriage, and also likely died before her father (yet unidentified), who likely did not name her in a will. There were a few other Cartmill families in the area, but which one Eleanor came from has apparently not been determined.
