Edwin Hickman Ewing, born December 2, 1809; was a lawyer of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; member of the United States House of Representatives (1845-1847); married Rebecca P., daughter of Josiah Williams, December 20, 1832. Edwin H. Ewing was one of the great lawyers of Tennessee; served by special appointment of Judge of Tennessee Supreme Court, and was instrumental in establishing Peabody College of Nashville.
