WItnesseth that the said Jesse & Margret Campbell for & in consideration of the Sum of fifty five Pounds to them in hand paid by theresd. Edward Smith the Receipt is hereby Acknowledged & Have granted, bargained, sold by these presents Do bargain & sell unto the sd. Edward Smith all that Tract or Parcell of land situate lying & being in the County & Province affsd. & granted by Deed to the sd. Jesse Campbell the 7th Day of Feb 1764... [Mentions Wm. McColloch's line, Containing by estimation Three Hundred & Four Acres and all houses & Buildings & ___ Orchards, Meadnes, ways, waters, Water Courses, Minese Minerals, Profits Commodities, Heritances whatsoever to the same...
In witness whereof we the sd. Jesse & Margaret Campbell have hereunto set our hands & Affixed over seals, the Day & year first above written.

Witnesseth that the sd. Jesse Campbell & Margret his wife for & in consideration of the sum of Fifty Five Pounds Current Money of North Carolina; to bring in hand Paid by the sd. Edward Smith the Receipt whereof the sd. Jesse & Margret Campbell ___ by Adknowedlge there for Doth Release, acquit & Discharge the sd. Edward Smith his heirs, Exors. & Adminst & Assigns by these presents Have granted, bargained, sold, Alienated, Released & confirmed & by these presents do Grant, Bargain, sell, Release & Confirm unto the sd. Edward Smith, in his natural possession now being by virtue of a Bargain & Sale to him thereof made for one year by Indenture bearing date the Day & next before the Date of these Presents; & Force of the Statue for Transfering was unto possession; & his heirs all that Tract or Parcell of land situate lying & being in the County & Province affdsd.... Containing by computation three hundred & four acres...

26 April 1775; Indenture between Edward Smith of the County of Rowan, Planter, & Sarah his wife on the one part, & Matthew Troy of the Town & Borough of Salisbury in No. Carolina, Merchant of the other Part. Witnesseth that for & in Consideration of the Sum of Two Hundred & Fifty pounds proclamation Money to the sd. Edward Smith in Hand Paid by the said Matthew Troy at & before the Sealing & Delivery of these presents (the Receipt & payment Whereof is Hereby Acknowledged).... Tract & parcel of land Situate lying & being in the Parish if St. Luke of Rown [Rowan] in the province of No. Carolina aforesaid, and on the north side of the Cattaba River, Beginning at a certain hickory standing on a line of part of William McColloch's Land... Containing by estimation Three Hundred and Four Acres of Land, Being that tract or Parcel of Land Heretofore Granted by Deed of Conveyance, from the Honors(ble) John Earl of Granville by Deed of Conveyance Bearing Date the 28th day of August 1762 as by the said Deed & Plan of premises will more fully & at Large appear which said land & premises as afterwards Granted & Conveyed by Jesse Campbell to the sd. Edward Smith by Lease & Release, Bearing date the 13th day of September 1769.... And also, all & every the Estate & Estates, Rights, Titles, Claims, Interests & Demands Whatsoever of him the said Edward Smith & Sarah his wife of or into the said lands, Tenements, Hereditaments & premises Whatsoever Hereby Granted, or mentioned to be granted, or any of them, or any part or parcel thereof. To Have & to Hold the sd. lands Tenements, Hereditaments & premises Hereby Granted with Appurtenances to the said Matthew Troy his Heirs & Assigns... In Witness Whereof the sd. Edward Smith & Sarah his wife hath hereunto set their hands & Seals the Day & Year first above written.
