So it appears that Edward never married but his Find-a-Grave site has a spouse for him. So perhaps he was widowed, lived alone and the folks just called that 'single'. The information given about a wife needs further research and documentation before it can be accepted. Also the date of birth carved on his tombstone does NOT match the Death Index above. The carving is visible on the photo on his memorial page and reads 31 Jul 1810. Since it is carved in stone, I'll go with that date.
