Edward H. Hoffmeyer collapsed while cranking up his car on 07 Apr 1920. He died 3 days later at 232 Mulberry Street in Newark, NJ at 6am of a cardiac embolism secondary to an aortic aneurism according to his death certificate. At the time of his death he as living with his wife Theresa at 220 Amhurst St in East Orange, NJ. There was no autopsy performed and his death certificate was signed by Louanna Heath MD of 20 Fairmont Ave, Newark, NJ.

He was originally buried in a ground grave on Apr 13 1920 and then was exhumed and moved to the mausoleum on Dec 10, 1929.
