Mr. Hoffmeyer was born in Detroit and dided Saturday. Nine children, Gloria, Virginia, Margaret, Phyllis, Richard, Robert, Kenneth, Arthur, and George; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive. (From TIm Christenson) <Helmer Christenson Jr. told June Irene Murray that his family believes that Arthur Hoffmeyer commited suicide. When he went to Arthur's funeral, he was told that Arthur tied a neck tie around his neck while lying in bed, attached the neck tie to the bedstand, and then rolled off the bed to kill himself. (from Tim Christenson) Arthur Hoffmeyer was an inventor. He invented a device to shave people in hospital beds (in 1927-1929), With a vacuum built into it. There was a patent fight over it, which Arthur eventually gave up on. (possibly because it was too expensive to carry on the fight during the depression). He also invented other things. The shaver that Arthur invented was stolen (the object itself) as well as the idea. June Irene says that the item never surfaced as a product. References
