Edward Brooke was a clergyman. He studied at St John's College in Cambridge. He was licensed as a deacon to the parish of Fulmer in Buckinghamshire in 1712. He was ordained the following year in London, and became curate of Fulmer. In 1724 he became rector of the tiny parish of Caldecote in Hertfordshire. In 1726 the Caldecote parish registers record that Edward and his wife Elizabeth had a son, Philip, but Philip was buried there six months later.

From 1727, as well as being rector of Caldecote, Edward also became vicar of the neighbouring parish of Stotfold in Bedfordshire, where he and his wife had another two sons baptised in the late 1720s, Benjamin and Bernard. Edward held the posts of rector of Caldecote and vicar of Stotfold until his death in 1747. He was buried at Stotfold on 8th March 1747.
