EDWARD Allen, received from his father, Hope Allen (wife Rachel), of Boston, a large part of Portland, bot from Mr. Cleeve, and sold it to George Bramhall and Henry Kirke. App. came first to Berwick, and was fined in York Court, July 1673, for abs. from meeting, but soon settled on Dover Neck below Thompson’s Point. Prison keeper 1678, prob. I bookkeeper for Maj. Waldron. In 1703-1704 he visited Lynn, to assist the widow about his bro. Capt. Benjamin’s estate. Lists 359ab, 55a, 52, 57. His wife, Sarah, died about 1720. Ch. 3 sons and “several” daus.: Edward, b. c. 1670, (perh. the same rec. at Boston 11 July 1671); m. Ann Coleman dau. of Joseph. 10 ch. rec. at Nantucket 1693-1718. Jacob, cordwainer, lived west of Back River, Dover. Will 8 July 1752 - 31 Jan. 1753. He m. 1st 5 Feb. 1701-2 Martha Dam, dau. of William and Martha (Nute); 2d Mary (Spencer) Jones, wid. of Joseph, dau. of Moses and Elizabeth Spencer; living in 1761. 6 ch. by each wife. See s.
