Arrived in Boston midsummer 1635, age 30, on the Elizabeth & Ann. Settled in Duxbury, MA. From a court record of 2 November 1636, we know that Mr. John Winslow transferred the services of Edmund Weston for two years beginning the last of May next ensuing to Nathaniel Thomas on behalf of his father, Mr. William Thomas, for 10 pound. William Thomas was also to give Weston 6 pound per annum and fourteen bushels of corn at the end of his two years. This would indicate that Edmund had come over as an indentured servant. By 4 November 1639, Edmund was licensed by the court to live with Mr. John Carew and be partners with him in planing Carew's land. He subsequently received various land grants, including in 1645 one of the the original proprietorships in the Bridgewater grant. He was among those listed from Duxbury in 1643 as able to bear arms. along with Philip Delano and Robert Carver, he became on 7 Jun 1648 one of the administrators of the estate of Thomas Howell in Duxbury. He was enfranchised as a freeman of Plymouth colony on 7 June 1653. He served in various public offices, such as grand juryman and highway surveyor, but did not serve in a major office. All in all he seemed to have fare well from the promise of opportunity which must have brought him to the New World. The name of his wife is not known. It would seem likely that he arrived unmarried. It has been suggested that he married a daughter of Philip Delano, but there is no extant contemporary evidence. From the probable ages of his children, it appears he married late in life. His will was dated 16 April 1686 and confirmed by witnesses 3 Jun 1686. In it he named three sons and one daughter callilng the latter the wife of John Delano. He was said to be a thrasher of grain when he lived in England. In 1652, he was a surveyor of highways. His name was frequently connected with public matters in town. In the History of Duxbury, Winsor says of Edmund Weston, " . . . as the enterprising ancestor of an enterprising family whose descendants have been numerous and most of them have resided in town."
