"Ebenezer4 (Williams) born on the 16th October, 1691. He early removed to Lebanon, Conn., soon after its organization as a town, where the deed for his first purchase of land is dated 17th November, 1718. There on the 27th July, 1721, he married Mary, eldest daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Vetch. … Ebenezer's4 name is found on the records of Lebanon (Goshen) Church as a member thereof, 2nd April, 1732, and upon the records of the town as Lieutenant and Selectman in 1736 and 1738. His last Will and Testament is dated the 5th March, 1740. He died on the 6th August, 1740, at the age of 48. On his gravestone in the Lebanon-Goshen burying-ground appear these words:—'Here lies interred the Body of Lieutenant Ebenezer Williams, the loving and well-beloved consort of Mrs. Mary Williams, who after he had lived a holy and painful life, slept in Jesus, Aug. the 6th, 1740, in the 49th year of his age.'"
