Carthage Press (Missouri)posted 2 August 2012. Deloris L. Brightwell, 79, Carthage, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at her home with her family at her bedside. Deloris Lee Bowman was born Oct. 9, 1932 in rural Jasper County; the daughter of the late Herbert Bowman and Helen Gaddis Bowman. She attended rural elementary schools and was a 1950 graduate of Carthage High School. She married Gordon E. Brightwell on Dec. 28, 1950 in Carthage; he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2010. She and her husband owned and operated Brightwell’s 66 Service Station, Carthage, till 1972 when the station was sold. She was a homemaker and enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, and painting. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Methodist Church, northwest of Carthage.Survivors include her daughter, Karen S. Ziler and husband, Tom; a son, Rick J. Brightwell and wife, Barbara, Carthage; four grandchildren, Amber (Donovan) Hensley, Nixa, Mo., Zach Ziler, Bloomington, Illinois, Clinton and Anna Brightwell, both of Carthage; one great granddaughter, Hailey Hensley, Nixa, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gordon and one sister, Ann Knell.Visitation will be held from 7–8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2 in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Minister Bryan Morrow will officiate. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
