The stage line was still running to Rand on the old Teller route. Thisroute was Laramie, Woods Landing, Pinkhampton, Canadian, Sage Hen,Haworth and Rand. Jake Alling now started an independent stage linecarrying no mail, which went from Laramie to Woods Landing, throughPorter Gulch and Chimney Park and by Mountain Home to Pinkhampton,Canadian, then across by where the oil field is now and came out ontop of the hill and to Walden; all in one day, one stage each way.Semple worked on this independent line driving the stage untilSeptember 17, 1890.... In May, 1893, he returned to Walden and married Mrs. Elizabeth Wood,whose first husband was Nels Wood. Nels' brother, Sam Wood, was theman Wood's Landing was named for... Mrs. Semple had five children by Wood: Ed, Bob, Maud, Roy and AddieRobitaille... Mrs. Wood was running a boarding house in Walden when she and Mr.Semple married... Mr and Mrs Semple had one son, Harold, who married Irene Riggen,daughter of Mr and Mrs Charlie Riggen. They were parents of Harold,Jr., Doug, Robert, Edith, Fern, Thelma, and Marjorie.
