General labourer David McDowall lived in Barbieston at the time of marriage (1870), he married Annie Pollock Gordon of Maybole. The 1851 and 1881 census shows he was born in Girvan. In 1881 David works as Carrier. Address in 1910 is Maryhill (?, outside Glasgow - more probably mis-transcribes for Maybole), at son's emigration.
