    "Daniel Pitkin, 12th ch. … b. Oct. 17, 1735. … d. Sept. 19, 1815. … He was selectman from 1783, for thirteen (13) years. He kept a hotel a few rods from the river, at the ferry landing north of the present bridge, where his grand-daughter, Mrs. Chauncey Treat, afterwards lived. This was long before the bridge was built (which was in 1707), or before the second or ferry below the bridge was opened, which was 1804 or 5."
