[Note: Daniel is identified as illegitimate by process of elimination, being the only child that cannot be shown to be born earlier than the court record of illegitimacy. However, Davis notes, "his paternity is subject only to guess" and Davis speculates that Phillip Leonard might not be the father, rather Joseph Rose.
