Where did Daniel Jacob Loth come from? He seems to be born in 1799, most likely in Paramaribo, he was already partner in the Firma van Gelder and Loth in 1825, which means he was young when he started there. Was his father already partner before him. There are no other Loths in Suriname at those days , so my guess he came to Suriname after he was born. A possibility is that he came from the East Indies. There is a family Loth living there who are merchants and originally from Germany.(Johan August Loth) though this is just a theory.

There are still living Loth descendants it is worth a try to contact them. He was a merchant so there might be a testament, only where.
