Source:Shattuck, Lemuel. History of the Town of Concord, p. 369, speculates that "Lieut. Daniel Dean, [was] probably the son of Thomas". The anonymous article in NEHGR^[2] says "Lieut. Daniel Deane, of Concrd, does not appear to have been related to the preceding family [i.e., Thomas]." According to the NEHGR article, Thomas Dean came to New England in 1635 at the age of 32, so we can see that he was old enough to be Daniel's father, but a will is mentioned, which presumably does not name Daniel, since the article draws a negative conclusion about their relationship.

   Deposed 6 Oct 1656 that he was "about twenty-six years" old [born about 1630]. Married (1) Mary, d/o Thomas Gobble of Charleston, m. (2) Margaret (Eames) Adams. No children as his estate inherited principally by Margaret's son Capt. Daniel Adams. "Here Lyes Buried the Body of Lieut. Daniel Dean, who dec'd Nov'br ye 29, 1725, In the 97th year of his Age."
