Will of Daniel Brown, Sr.
Written Jan 6, 1797,

In the name of Good Amen. I, Daniel Brown, Sr., of Bedford County, being of sound mind & memory do constitute & ordain this my last will & testament beginning date the 6th day of January one thousand seven hundred & ninety seven, disannulling all other wills heretofore made by me in write [sic] or any other way for disposing of such goods & chattels as has pleased God to bestow upon me, I do give and dispose of as follows, that is to say, that first it is my desire that all my just debts shall be first paid & the rest of my estate both real and personal I dispose of as follows:
Item. I lend to my beloved friend Amey Hastens the land & plantation whereon I now live during her natural life, and at her death I give it to my son William Brown & his heirs forever. I also lend to my beloved friend all the use & profit of one negro fellow named George & also one negro woman named Winney & her child Polly, all during her natural life, and at her death I give the said negros [sic] George, Winney & Polly & thare [sic] increase to my son Daniel Brown to him & his heirs forever. I also lend to my beloved friend Amey Hasten the use & profit of one third of my hogs, one third of my cattle, one choise [sic] hors [sic] & give to Amey Hasten one choise feather bed & furniture forever; also seventeen barrels of corn & fifteen bushels of wheat & the meat of four choise hogs. And I lend to my said friend during her life all my kitchen furniture & plantation utensils.
Item. I give to my son Daniel Brown at my death one negro boy named Ket, to him & his heirs forever. I also give to my son Daniel at the death of my friend Amey Hasten all the negroes that I have lent to my friend Amey Hasten with all their increase & all the household & kitchen furniture & plantation utensils to him & his heirs forever.
Item. I give to my grand-son John Ashwell Brown, son of my daughter Ann Brown, twenty shillings in money.
Item. I give to my grand-son, Shadrack Brown, son of Daniel Brown Junr., one negro woman named Sarah, and her children to witt [sic]: Nance, Will, Sal & John, to him and his heirs forever.
Item. All of my estate not yet given after my death I give to my son Danl Brown, to him and his heirs forever.
Item. I do hereby constitute & appoint my trusty friend John Newlon, my whole & sole executor of this my last will & testament.
In witness wherof [sic] I have harunto [sic] set my hand this 6th day of January, 1797..

1736 - Daniel BROWN and Geo. BROWN. 1 Levys. "To Q-rents 250 acres Land per your Father." "To Clerk's fees per your Father." To 4 qts Rum for your father." "George lives with his father." d. "By Alex'r. BROWN for the clerk's fees." "By do his Fathers Q-rents 250 acres Land." "By the Insector at Warwick." (Virginia Colonial Abstracts, Vol. 21, Henrico County - Southside, 1736, FLEET, 1985, p. 7).
Daniel was granted a land patent for 400 acres in Henrico County on March 26, 1739 crossing the Sapony Creek . He sold land to his brother Alexander in Chesterfield County on October 24, 1749..
The memorandum in the deed stated that "..on the 24th day of October 1749 quiet and peaceable possession and seisen of the land and premises within mentioned was made and done and delivered by the Leassor within mentioned unto the within named Alexander Brown the Lessee according to the form and effect of the within deed. In the presence of Jno Ward, Thomas Wyatt his and John Brown Daniel D. Brown mark.
