Daisy Bridges was the seventeenth child of Henry Bridges and Catherine Lewis Bridges. She was born in 1889 in Leigh, Nebraska, where the family farmed. Her mother died when she was fourteen. As a young adult, she studied nursing in St. Louis, helped raise her nieces and nephews after her sister Lucinda died, and cared for her father in his later years. She married Carl Farmer at age 31 and raised two sons in Norco, California. After the boys left home, Daisy and Carl moved to Shelburn, Oregon where she belonged to a garden club and was among a group of woman that started the Scio branch of the Eastern Star lodge. She enjoyed poetry and other forms of literature. Daisy had a quiet nature but a great sense of humor and high intelligence. In her late 70’s, she took to her bed and eventually died from unknown causes.
