Will, probated Frontenac County 1824

I, Comfort Smith of the Township of Fredericksburg in the County of Lenox in the Midland District and Province of Upper Canada, being on this Fourteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty One of a sound disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament [in] the manner following that is to say, first I do Will and positively avow all my past debts to be paid. I give and bequeath unto my Daughters Elizabeth and Sarah and their Heirs forever all my Landed Estate which is to be equally divided between them. Elizabeth's half to be the East side, and Sarah's to be the West side, and they, my Daughters Elizabeth and Sarah are to pay my aforesaid debts, equally between them, Each to pay the one half of them, but if they shall not agree to this my request, of paying my debts

It is my will and order and I do hereby impower my Executors herein named to sell and give deeds of Conveyance or other instrument of Writing that may be necessary to secure the title to the whole or any part of the said landed Estate to purchasers, in order that my debts may be paid and the surplus or remainder after the discharge of said debts to be equally div[id]ed between my Daughters Elizabeth and Sarah.

I do likewise give, and bequeath, unto my Daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah, all my Household furniture in like manner to be equally divided between them, they each to have the half.

It is my Will and I do hereby nominate and appoint my Son in Law John Clapp and Nicholas Peterson Junior Executor of this my Last Will and Testament ----
