Henderson Walton and Alice Ocheltree were obviously not Christopher's birth parents (Henderson was only 13 when Christopher was born), but they appear to have adopted him.^[2][4] He was living in the same household as Henderson (and Alice Ocheltree) in 1880^[1], and may have been Henderson's nephew or possibly half-brother (though not by his father's wife, as she was too old and Christopher was not listed as her son).
