In the 1880 Census for New York, New York, New York, there is Chr. Fitting, age 24, a carpenter born NY, parents born NY?; living with Kate, a 20 year old 'housekeeper' born NY; and Nellie, age 1 month. {New York, West 68th, ED 522}

 There is an IGI record for the birth of 'Joseph Fitting', 9 Jan 1894 in Manhattan to 'Chrstfor Fitting' and Kate Hayes.
 The 1900 census for Manhattan, ward 12, New York co., New York, has 'Chr.' Fitting, 44, carpenter, born March 1856, married 21 years; with wife Cathr. is 40, born Ireland, with 9 of 10 children living. The children are Nelly 19 b. Apr 1881; Maggie 18 b. Nov 1882; Marie 16 b. Oct 1883; James 14 b. June 1885; Katie 11 b. Sept 1888; Frank 9 b. June 1891; John 5 b. June 1895; Irene 7 b. Mar 1893; Walter 2 b. May 1898; also John Hays (?), b-o-l [brother-in-law] 30 b. Oct 1869 (parents Ireland); and sister-in-law Nellie 29 born Apr 1871 NY (parents Germany?), 'seamstress' -- both single, born NY.  {609 Amsterdam, Manhattan, New York, 12th Ward, ED 518, sh. 21}
 In the 1910 census for Manhattan, ward 12, New York, New York, Christian Fitting is 53, born New York (parents Germany), a general carpenter, married once for 31 years.  His wife Katherine is 50, born New York (parents Ireland), married once, with 10 of 11 children living. Their children are Nellie 30, dressmaker in store; (Margaret?) 28; Mary 26, dressmaker; James 23, (forep-- in shop?); Katherine 20, dressmaker; Frank 18, 'assit in bank(?)' works in office; John 14; Irene 17; and Walter 11; and Raphael 8 -- all born New York. Sister-in-law Nellie Hayes is 39 born New York (parents Ireland) single, no occupation.  According to 'Notes on Fitting Genealogy', two children Katherine and Marie/May married, although they had no issue.  Jack and Raphael married, probably after 1930, but had no children.  Walter married and had one child.
