Charles Moore Hunt, son of John and Elizabeth (Conklin) Hunt was born on 5 August 1844 in Withamsville, Union Township, Clermont County), Ohio. He married Mary Louise (Mollie) Given on 31 December 1868, in Perins Mills (Clermont County), Ohio. Mollie was born on 7 April 1847 in Ohio. She may be the daughter of James Given. They lived in Illinois for awhile and by 1900, Charles and Mollie were living in Fall River Township (Greenwood County), Kansas. Charles was in the Union forces and spent eleven months as a prisoner of war at Andersonville. He was presented a medal for bravery by President Lincoln. According to family legend, Charles would sometimes leave without telling anyone and go to Champaign, Illinois where he would stay awhile at the "soldier's home" and visit with all his old friends from the Civil War. Mollie died on 29 April 1916 and Charles died on 9 October 1918. They both died in Klamath Falls, Oregon and are buried in Klamath Falls, at Linkville Cemetery. According to his obituary, Charles was survived by a sister in California.
