Information on Maj. Charles Lewis Hinton

Major Charles Lewis Hinton (1793 - 1861) of River Plantation David and Jane Lewis Hinton's son, Charles Lewis Hinton, was born in 1793 at The Oaks. Charles married Ann Perry. They lived at River Plantation.

Charles Lewis Hinton also served in the General Assembly as a State Senator and Representative, as Treasurer of North Carolina, and as a trustee of the University of North Carolina. He helped to organize the Oaky Grove Methodist Church in Shotwell.

Charles Lewis Hinton is buried at The Oaks.
