    Hamilton Spectator. 3 Feb 1904. Front page. James Hill oldest resident of Fruitland. Died last night - lived in Fruitland, 68 years, since a boy of 14, was born in Allenburg, near Niagara Falls. Member of Fruitland Methodist Church. A conservative in politics. Five daughters, Mrs. Agnes Hill; Mrs. Chas. Black (NY); Mrs. Esther Dean; Mrs. (Rev) Smith of Copetown; Miss A. at home. Three sons: G. M. Hill, Chas. Hill; and W. H. of Niagara Falls, NY.

    Charles Carpenter Hill
    Of United Empire Loyalist descent and a member of a pioneer Fruitland family, Charles Carpenter Hill, retired Fruitland farmer, died yesterday at the General Hospital. He was 83 years of age. Highly regarded in the community, he leaves his widow, the former Clara Louise Bedell; two sons, Charles Edgar and Arnold Bert, in Fruitland, and a daughter, Mrs. May Hildreth, of Toronto; also a brother, William, of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and two sisters, Miss Abie Hill nad Mrs. Esther Dean, both of Hamilton. The remains are resting at Truscott Brothers' Funeral Home, until Friday morning at 11 o'clock, when they will be conveyed to his home for private service at 2 o'clock. Burial wil be in Fruitland.
