- ↑ "Charles Giesecks"s remains were brought here last Saturday night fromArkansas. This is two very sudden deaths in the same family, as HenryGieseck died the 6th of last August at the same place. Charley hadrecently went back to take charge of their saw mill and lumber business.The diseased was sick only a few days"
- ↑ "Death of a Former Licking county resident" Mr. Charles Gieseck of CherryValley, Arkansas, died very suddenly at that place last Friday, havingbeen sick only a few days. The deceased was a son of the late HenryGieseck, Esq. once a wealthy and prominent citizen of the western partof the county, near Pataskala. He was aged 23 years only. The remainswere brought to his old home near Pataskala Saturday nite and thefuneral took place from the Universalist church at Reynoldburg, theservices being conducted by Rev. R. N. Quackenbush. The body was notinterred, but was placed in the vault, and it is thought that a postmortem examination will be held, to ascertain, if possible, the cause ofsudden death."
- ↑ OFFICIAL REPORT-of the post Mortem examination of Charles Joseph Gieseck,deceased.-we find in the Pataskala Standard of this week the followingofficial report of the recent post Mortem examination held in the caseof Charles Gieseck, an account of which has heretofore been given in theAdvocate:
I was called by W.H. Gieseck and Joshua Wickliff to be present at postmortem examination of the body of Charles Joseph Gieseck, deceased.Doctors Lisle and Dysart called to make the examination. Uponstripping the body, no external injury on the remains except blistersover the right lung. Both lungs were diseased. Adhesion of the base ofthe left lung to the walls of the chest. The spleen nearly three timesthe normal size. The stomach tied at both extremities. The contentswere poured in a pan of clean water. The walls of the stomach werewashed. The contents put in a clean bottle and left in my possession.Kidney's normal. Enlargement of liver. Weight five 1/2 pounds. Signed, James Lisle, M. D. J B Dysart, M. D. C. J Hutson, J.P.
