Attendants at the Tuesday morning wedding at the LaChapelle farm home were sister May LaChapelle and cousin Walter LaChapelle; Minister, Rev. Leonard Hazard. Wedding trip was to Bay City and Flint, MI Charles Conklin was a business man and a man of official affairs in Alcona County over a long term of years. He was born in St, Williams, Ontario, Canada December 26, 1863. He came with his parents to Greenbush, Alcona County, Michigan when he was about three years of age; eleven years later he came to Harrisville and resided there until his death. He taught school in the Lumerick District amd the Dean District. Later he entered politics and was the Secretary of the Republican County Committee over a long period of years. He held school and township offices; and, was Deputy Postmaster under B.P.Cowley; Register of Deeds for the years 1881-1984; and, served eight years as County Treasurer. He had a hardware and furniture store for forty years prior to his death; and, he conducted an Abstract and Real Estate Business, being one of the oldest Abstractors in this section of the state.
