    Son of John Buchanan and Sarah "Sally" Ridley.

    Upon his father's death, Charles Buchanan inherited his father's grant #56 of 640 acres on Cedar Lick Creek in Wilson County. His property included an extra 210 acres, which may have been a portion of John Buchanan's 1786, 640-acre grant #944.

    Charles Buchanan died four years later, and the property was listed for sale. Executor of his estate was initially brother-in-law George Moses Goodwin, Jr, until Goodwin's death. His sister Jane Buchanan Goodwin was assisted in administration until her death soon after her husband's, and the task fell to brothers and brothers-in-law.
