Facts and Events
May be Charles G. Betts, b. 28 August, great-grandfather of Dan Conlin <conlindf@@hotmail.com>. Dan Conlin believes Charles had a twin brother who died young. [Confirmed by Darcy in 2005. See 1881 baptisms at St. Mary's Catholic Church.] Further (although admittedly circumstantial) evidence that Charles Betts is son of our Charles Betz: William Clabeau (1869-1931) who was raised by Johanna Betz Clabeau (sister of our Charles Betz) has an address book. In it includes a listing for both Sister Eusebia [aka Jennie Betz] and Charles Betz/Betts. Why else would William have these in his address book if they weren't his cousins or otherwise related to his mother/aunt. 1910 Census has a Charles G. Betts, 28, bookkeeper (mother from Ireland), 316 South Division, married to a Maude F., 26, b. Canada; married 2 years. 1 child: Mary F., 4 months (i.e., born Dec 1909 or Jan 1910). 1920 Census: 20th ward, ED 180, sheet 13B, 13 Jan 1920: 163 Wakefield: Betts, Charles G, owner, 37, widowed, b.
