Georgia, Monroe County, Will Book A, pages 198, 199. Last Will and Testament of Catherine Stubblefield. I Catherine Stubblefield of Monroe County and State of Georgia being of Sound mind and memory considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof do declare this to be my Last will and Testament in the manner following, to wit. I give unto my son Robert Brown, Nervy a negroe slave. As for the money that I shall have at the time of my death I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses and that the remainder be disposed of in the following manner. I give unto my son Abraham Brown five Dollars, the rest to be equally divided amongst Margaret Barger, Mary Maxwell, John Brown, Wm Rice, Anna Burton and the heirs of Elizabeth White to receive her portion equal with Margaret Barger, Mary Maxwell, John Brown, Wm Rice, Anna Burton. My bed I give unto my son Robert Brown I will that my wearing Clothes and Bed Clothes be equally divided amongst all my living children except my son Abraham Brown who shall have no part of the above named clothing and I make and ordain Robert Brown and Timothy Chambliss Executors of this my Last will and Testament. In witness whereof I the Testatrix have to this my Last will Set my hand and Seal, this the 26th day of November AD 1842. Timothy Chambliss Joseph Gray Catherine X Stubblefield (seal) (signed with her "X" mark) Georgia Personally appeared in open Court Timothy Chambliss & Joseph Gray the Monroe County Subscribing witness to the foregoing will who being duly Sworn depose & Say they saw Catherine Stubblefield sign, Seal & deliver this writing as & for her last will & testament, that they in the presence of the testatrix & at her request & in presence of each other attested said will as witness and that at the time of execution of Said will, said testatrix was of sound disposing mind & memory & that she executed the same freely, voluntarily & without compulsion. Sworn to in open court Timothy Chambliss, Joseph Gray March 6, 1843 The last will & Testament of Catherine Stubblefield decd having been proven in open court upon the oaths of Timothy Chambliss & Joseph Gray. It is ordered by the Court that the same be admitted to record & that letter testamentary be granted to Robert Brown one of the executors in Said will named. Georgia I do solemnly swear that this writing contains the true last will of the within named Monroe County Catherine Stubblefield decd. So far as I know or believe, & that I will well & truly execute the same by paying first the debts & then the legacies contained in the Said will as far as her goods & Chattels will Hereunto entered and the law charge me & that I will make a true & perfect inventory of all such goods & chattels, So help me God.
