Pioneer Life on the Bay of Quinte confuses Catherine, daughter of Eratus Howard with her niece, daughter of Nathan Hayden Howard. Research in The Massey Family Family 1591-1961 (apparently using gravestone inscriptions) identifies Catherine "Kate" Howard, wife of Rev. William Jonathan Massey as aged 24 years 8 months and 15 days on her death 3 October 1865. As this puts her birth date in 1841, Catherine, wife of William Massey cannot be the daughter of Eratus, who died in 1832. A spouse or death date for Catherine, daughter of Eratus, has not been located. After Eratus's death, Nathan Hayden Howard reportedly took care of six siblings, depending on whether Janet or Eratus Guillaume are counted, the possibility exists that this Catherine is an error.
