Mrs. Foley came to America in 1838 with her husband, settling in Wisconsin, and then moving to Garry Owen, Praire Creek Township, Dubuque County, IA. She was the mother of twelve children, of whom five survived her.

She may have moved from Garryowen after her husbands death in 1870 to live with her brother, Patrick, or one of her children. There is no record of her in the 1880 IA Census for Prairie Creek.
