 Lewis D. Howard married Catharine Cynthia (Kate) Cade, daughter of Josephus

and Martha Ann (Harsh) Cade in Quenemo, KS in 1872.

 Lewis D. Howard commenced farming on his own in 1879.  His land was in

Section 32, Township 13 S, Range 20 E, formerly owned by W. C. McClintock. On March 10, 1872, he was married in Osage County, KS to Kate Cade, a member of a pioneer family. Their children were Charles, John Edward, Frank, Walter, Chester & Fred. Mr. Howard was active in church and community affairs. A grandson, Lloyd C. Howard, lives adjacent to the land his grandfather farmed in 1883.
