Carol became an Assistant Attorney General of Massachusetts under Eliot Richardson, and then joined the Office of Economic Opportunity in Washington, D.C., under Richardson in the Nixon administration, from 1971 to 1975. She died of cancer at University Hospital, Boston, MA.
