Bernard DAIGLE, #676, born 1670, son of Olivier & Marie or Martine GAUDET, married Marie Claire BOURG, daughter of Jean [sic] & Marguerite MARTIN [sic]; son Francois born 1704. Bernard died on 22 Jan 1751 at Port La Joie, Acadie.

Lived in Assumption Parish, in Windsor, Nova Scotia. In 1671 Bernard is in Port Royal with his parents (1 yr old) In1686, at age 16 he is living with his mother and Jean Fardel In 1693, at age 22, he lives Aux Mines with his wife Marie-Claire Bourg, 19 yrs old, and their son Bernard Jr., 6 mos. Moves to Pisiquit (Windsor, Nova Scotia) circa 1695 In 1701 his family lives in Pisiguit (Windsor, NS). In 1703 his family returns to Aux Mines In 1714 his family returns to Pisiguit, (Windsor, NS), Assumption Parish. After the death of wife, Marie Bourg, in 1727, Bernard returns to live with several of his children in Port Lajoie, Ile St-Jean - today, Prince Edward Island (PEI).

BERNARD, third son of Olivier, was born in 1670, and married to MARIE-CLAIRE BOURG, daughter of Bernard and Francoise (Brun) Bourg. ( It has been claimed, however, that MARIE was the daughter of Jean Bourg, Bernard's brother, and of Marguerite Martin.)

In 1671, (Age: 1 year), he lived in Port Royal with his parents. Reports are that in 1786, (Age: 16 years), he was living with his mother, and Jean Fardel. By 1693, (Age: 22 years), he was living in Aux Mines with his wife, Marie-Claire, (Age: 19), and their son, Bernard, who was six months old. The 1678 census shows BERNARD's father LIVING IN Port Royal with his wife, MARIE Gaudet and their eight children, but by 1686 the father had died, his widow remarried to Jean Fardel, and BERNARD, 16, and six other Daigle children were living with them. In 1693, BERNARD DAIGLE, 22, and MARIE BOURG, 19, were living in Assumption Parish at Piziquid, in the Minas Basin with theie six month old baby. In 1701, his family was in Pisiguit, (Windsor, Nova Scotia), Acadia. In 1703, they returned to Aux Mines, returning to Pisiguit in 1714, where they settled in L'Assomption Parish. After his wife's death, (1727), he went to Port Lajoie (Prince Edward Island), where he lived with several of his children. He died January 22, 1751, at Port-Lajoie, Ile St-Jean, (Charlottetown, PEI).

About 1749, L'Abbe LeLoutre began to press the Acadians to move from the Acadian peninsula across the Missaguash River to French territory. Many moved across te river to the Beausejour area, but BERNARD and his family were among those who accepted French Government aid in moving to Ile Saint-Jean (Prince Edward Island). BERNARD thus became the first of our ancestors to leave their home because of the impending Acadian tragedy. Several children died there, as well as BERNARD himself.

He was the ancestor of the Daigles in Madawaska and in Bathurst, New Brunswick.
