In the 1850 Census of Ashland Co., Vermillion Twp, OH, he was living with his wife in the home of his brother-in-law, John Ryland, his wife and 4 children. His oldest son, Judson was also living with them. He was listed as a farmer, 24 years old and born in PA. In the 1860 census of Vermillion Twp, Ashland, Co., OH, he was living with his wife, Sarah, and Judson 10, Cinenuss 8, Lilly A, 6, Sarah A. 2 and a girl Julia Elmus 11. He was born in PA and was 34 years old. He was listed as a farmer. He and his brothers Thomas and Samuel were all 3 living next to each other with their respectully families. In the 1870 census of Vermillion Twp, Ashland, Co., OH, he was living with his wife, Sarah and all 4 of his children, Judson 20, Sylvanus 18, Alice 15, and Sarah 11. He was listed as a farmer and being 44 years old and born in PA. in the 1880 census of Vermillion Twp, Ashland Co., OH, he was living on High Street in Haysville with his wife Martha. It stated that he was 74 years old, married for 6 years and born in PA. Obit in the Ashland Press on the 7th of Jan 1903, states that he dropped over dead at his home on East street on Christmas morning. He was born in Juniatta Co., PA on July 31, 1825. In the fall of 1835 he came along with his parents to Ohio, locating near Loudonville, Ashland Co., OH. The following spring they moved to a farm near Jeromesville. After residing there five years they moved to a farm on the Muddy Fork, residing there for two years. They then moved to Haysville and from there to a farm one mile south of town. Alfter living there three years, they moved to a farm nortwest of Haysville. In 1849, he married Sarah Ryland, daughter of Wm Ryland of near Haysville. He lived on a farm nortwest of town until 1865, when he removed two miles east of Haysvillw and remained there until after the death of his wife, which occurred in November 1892. He then mobed to Haysville where he afterwards remarried, and lived there until his death on 25th December of 1902. In 1894 he united with the Presvyterian Church, and remained a member until his death. He lived until the age of 77 years, 4 months and 24 days. He was survived by his wife 2 sons and 2 daughters. The funderal was held on Sunday, the 28th of December of 1902 at his residence with the Rev Case officating. Burial was at the Vermillion Cemetery in Haysville, OH.
