Obituary found at the Find-a-Grave website: The Pekin Times, Pekin, Illinois, 11 Jun 1953 Ben Jackson, 92, Former RFD Mail Carrier, Dies

Forest City (CB)- Benjamin F. Jackson, 92, died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday in the Sunny Acres Nursing home in Petersburg. A Forest City resident, he had been in failing health for several years. Mr. Jackson was a former mail carrier, having been appointed the first RFD carrier in Forest City in 1904, a position which he held for 17 years. He also operated a garage in Forest City for a number of years.

He was born in Vandalia, Ill., Aug. 28, 1860, a son of Joshua and Mary Beard Jackson. He was married to Lulu Onstott on July 5, 1884. She died in 1924.

He is survived by five sons, Glenn Jackson, Mason City; Merlyn Jackson, Forest City; Benjamin and Jesse Jackson, both of Bath; and Robert Jackson of Canton; two daughters, Mrs. Louisa Palmer, Manito; and Mrs. Prudence Folkman, Canton; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Bruning, Havana; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

His body was taken to the John Funeral home, Manito, where last rites will be held at 2 p.m. (CST) Sunday. Rev. Joseph Hobbs will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Lawn cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. tonight.
