Benjamin Holliday was born 8 Jun 1763 in Spotsylvania county, Virginia. He was the son of Captain Joseph Holliday and Elizabeth Lewis. His grandfather was Captain John Holliday Sr who founded the Holliday family in three states and descended from Sir Walter Holliday of England and had a home named Belfonte with several thousand acres in Spottsylvania county. Benjamin's siblings were Wiliam, John, Daniel, Joseph, Elizabeth, Winnifred, Sarah, and Susanah.
