    Will of Benjamin Burling of Flushing "being sick", dated 1 Sep 1747, proved 12 Oct 1747, mentions 6 children William, Peter, Lancaster, Rebecca, Seneca and Anne. John Bowne and Matthew Franklin executors. Correction published Vol. 40, p. 165 adds that it mentions wife Elinor.

    [Note: for some reason this source refuses to see the obvious and recognize that his wife is Eleanor Doughty despite the footnote on this very page where Mary (Doughty) Burling's will labels her sister. Apparently, hung up on the son Lancaster's name, the author document a search for Eleanor Lancasters. Possibly also, she was confused about generations, forgetting which William was father and which was brother. But if the relationship was through the Burlings, Eleanor would have been wife of a step-son, so a daughter-in-law to Mary, not a sister. Therefore, the relationship has to be between Mary and Eleanor directly.]
