Obituary

JOHNSTOWN: Barbara L. (Quickle) Haines also known as half of the "John and Barb Show" went to be with her Lord on March 27, 2015. She was born in Vinton County April 2, 1934 the second daughter, preceded in death by her parents, Earl L. Quickle and Virginia Laywell Denig.

Married to John R. Haines, October 30, 1954, in the Vinton Methodist M.E. Church in Vinton, Ohio they celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2014. She is survived by her siblings, Mrs. Patricia Sayre (Pataskala, OH), Mrs. Carol Clark and Mr. Earl Lee Quickle, Jr. both of Columbus, Ohio; all her children surviving include, Timothy Allen (Neda) Haines of Johnstown, Ohio, Ms. Deborah Kay Haines of Knoxville, TN, Mrs. Virginia Sue (Ginny) Wilson (Anthony) of Pataskala, Ohio and Mrs. Kathleen Haines McCoy (David) of Downers Grove, IL.; grandchildren include, Nathan Haines (Kayla), Christopher Haines (Ericka), Sean Michael Haines, Kieffer Wilson, Avery Wilson, Madison Wilson, Matthew McCoy and Zachary McCoy; and two great-grandchildren, Alivia and Lincoln Haines.

Barbara attended Vinton High School and graduated as salutatorian and then moved to Columbus, Ohio to live with relatives. She worked for Nationwide Insurance from 1951-1957 both at the main office and was moved to North Carolina to oversee an office before coming back to headquarters in Columbus. Upon her return she was introduced to her future husband by her roommate at the time, Patricia Haines. After 3 months John and Barb tied the knot and the saga began, first with them raising children and then assisting with the family independent insurance agencies.

When she and husband purchased the Samuel C. Mauger Insurance Agency in Pataskala, Ohio and the John Ashbrook Insurance Agency in Johnstown, while John was overseeing one office, Barbara was running the other. She loved her church, her community and volunteering. She never forgot where she came from and always looking for ways to help others. She loved to learn and to teach whether in Sunday school, Bible Studies or with AWANA Club for children. She loved her neighbors and one of her greatest joys was watching the kids come and go as they walked past the sidewalk by their house on the way to school and watch them grow over the years. Her hobbies were more of a passion of working in her yard and planting flowers. She worked with both the Jersey Baptist Church Food Pantry as well as the Johnstown Presbyterian Food Pantry. In later years, she became involved in getting out the vote as well as other community causes.

For those wishing to show their respects in lieu of flowers, please send gifts to either the Jersey Baptist Church's AWANA program (13260 Morse Road SW, Pataskala, OH 43062) www. http://www.jerseychurch.org or to Samaritan's Purse, POB 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or www.samaritanspurse.org
