About 1941 Barbara traveled from Germany to America by ship with her brother Johann Simon and her Parents Johann Jacob Clar and Anna Marie Reber. Her parents died at sea and her and her brother were taken as servants. She finally earned her freedom in 1747, but it is not known if her and her brother were ever reunited.
