About 1941 Johann Simon Clar left Germany with his sister Barbara and parents Johann Jacob Clar and Anna Marie Reber. His parents died at sea. He and his sister were taken as servants. It is not known if they were ever reunited. Johann Simon was with George Washington and General Braddock at Fort DuQuesne in the French and Indian War. For his service he was awarded land in Bedford, Pennsylvania near the present fair ground. He became captain |
