NOTE: Research Notes: Onondaga Country, NY Wills, p. 36 974.765 P20 V.3 FHL shows his will in 1832. There are quite a few Azeriah Halls in the IGI. There is an entry on Film #1553354 FHL Batch F507189 Sheet 19 for Isaiah Hall, father of Huldah Hall that references the p. 163 of theChaffee Genealogy, Film # 1015848 Item 2. The IGI entry was by Anne N??? 57 W. 100 N. Harriman, UT 84065. Phone 801 254-4307. There is an IGI entry by Ellen R. Morrill, 1140 S. 4800 W. SLC, UT 84104 on Film #0538256 FHL Batch 7002721 Sheet 14. It references Mansfield, Conn. Vital Records, 974.64/M1 v2d. also Film # 0823814 item 2. It shows him born 2 October 1756 to Isaac and Abigail (Swift) Hall.

The following is from Karla Staud who has researched the Hall family.

Both Azariah Hall and his wife (and second cousin) Hannah Hall are buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery near Navarino, Onondaga Co., NY. Navarino was formerly known as Hall's Corners. There is a Revolutionary War marker on Azariah's grave. Karla did not find that he had a federal record so it is probably recorded under the state of Connecticut.

>From the "History of Onondaga County, NY by WW Clayton, published 1878": Between p. 274 and 275 from a feature on Theophilus Hall: 2nd Paragraph: ..........Azaria Hall...., was of English origin, his forefathers being among the early settlers of New England. Azariah emigrated to Onondaga Co. and settled at Navarino, formerly known as Hall's Corners, in 1799. he brough with him his wife and a large family....He was a farmer and reared nearly all his children to be farmers also. He died about 1832, and his wife Hannah outlived him several years, being in her 89th year when she died.

The will reads: "Sworn to this 4th day of September 1832 before me - John Flemming, L aw Surrogate In the name of God Amen. I, Azariah Hall of Onondaga being weak in b ody but of sound and perfect memory, considering the uncertainty of t his mortal life and being sound of mind helped be the Almighty God fo r the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in man ner of form following that is to say first I give and bequeth into m y beloved wife Hannah Hall the use of all my land lying north of th e state Road except three acres on the west - and bounded on Briggs o n the west and on the North by the North lyne of said lot from the so uth to the Center of the State rode and a far East as to contain thes e acres of land and I further give and bequeth to my wife Hanah the h ouse and all the furniture thereunto and two cows, ten sheep, and th e privilege of getting firewood off the farm and as many apples tha t she may want for her own use during her natural life. And I furthe r give to my said wife nine acres and three -forth acres of land. Tha t I had of Josiah Hall and this she may dispose of at his will and pl esuer and I further give and divise to my son Oren Hall all of the re mainder of my real and personal estate during his natral life by hi s paying the several sums (?) as follows. That is to pay Josiah Hal l my son one hundred dollars, and my daughter Huldy Chaffee fifty Dol lars, and the above sums to be paid in two years after my decasing . And I futher give to my son Chester Hall three acres of land bound ed as follows, on the west by land owned by Wm. Briggs on theWest b y the line of Lots and on the south by the center of the (?) state ro ad and on the East as to make three acres and the above named Oren Ha ll is ________of the above property his natral life except these acre s _____Chester Hall and Hannah Hall and after the decease of (?) o f Oren Hall then to all of his legacy is to be given to Azariah Hal l and JosiahHall, sons of Oren Hall. The petition of Hann ah Hall and Daniel Chaffee the Executive and Executor named in the la st will and Testament of Azariah Hall deceased, respectfully represen t. That they have caused citations and noticed in the mattersof pro ving the will of said deceased to be duly and regularly served on al l the next of kin and heirs at law of said deceased as will fully app ear by the affidavits which are hereto amend; they further represen t that they are now desirous to have proof taken of said will to th e end that it may be recorded as a will of real and personal estate a ccording to Law. dated September 4th 1832. Daniel Chaffee Hannah Hall To the ___mag. and to the County of Onondaga. The petition o f Hannal Hall and Daniel Chaffee respectfully ______. That Azaria h Hall, then an inhabitant of the town of Onondaga in the County of O nondaga died in said town and County on or about the sixth day of Jul y instant. leaving your petitioners the said Hannah his widow and Hul dah Chaffee the wife of the said DAniel Chaffee, Orin Hall, Josiah Ha ll, Chester Hall, Mariah Bentice, the wife of John Bentice, Eliza Wil cox, the wife of Thomas Wilcox, Hannah Thompson, Sylvester Thompson , Hiram Thompson, Daniel Hall, Rosinah Hunt, the wife of Walter Hunt , Alamander Hall and Jude Hall his heirs at law and only next of ki n him surviving. Affidavits of proof found on pages 267 through 272 in Will Book E Page 267 - The petitioners sheweth that Azariah Hall, then an inhabit ant of the town of Onondaga, died in said town on or about the sixth day o f July instant leaving your petitioner, Hannah Hall, his widow and also Huld ah Chaffee, wife of Daniel Chaffee; Oren Hall; Josiah Hall; Chester Hall; Mariah Bentice, wife of John Bentice; Eliza Wilcox, wife of Thomas Wi lcox; Hannah Thompson; Sylvester Thompson; Hiram Thompson; Daniel Hall; Ros inah Hunt, wife of Walter Hunt; Alemander Hall and Jude Hall, his heirs a t law and only next of kin surviving. That said Huldah Chaffee, Oren Hall , Josiah Hall, Marich Bentice, Eliza Wilcox, Rosinah Hunt, Sylvester Thompso n and Jude Hall reside in said county of Onondaga. That Chester Hall reside s in the state of Pennsylvania; Hiram Thompson in the county of Orleans i n this state; Daniel Hall and Alamander Hall in the state of Ohio and the pl ace of residence of Hannah Thompson is not now known.
