U.S. Army Ret. : Whitecotton, Axton - born 2/3/1742 old style, Stafford County, Virginia; entered service 1775 in Fauquier County, Virginia, where resided in Virginia Battalion; served at Battles of Great Bridge & Guilford Courthouse; granted Pension in Henry County, Virginia in 1832; Reverend Arnold Walker & Joseph Edwards made affidavit there then, per County Court Clerk Anthony M. Dupuy; Thomas Marshall made affidavit then in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, he entered service 1775 with soldier in same unit, per County Justice of the Peace Benjamin Watkins; query letter in file in 1926 from descendant Daisy Whitecotton Proctor of Kansas City, Missouri, who was also a descendant of Revolutionary soldiers George Proctor & William Hail, both of Surry County, Virginia.
