Arthur J. Laycock, 89, of Madison, died Jan. 4 at the Madison County Nursing Home. Graveside services were Jan. 5 at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Laycock was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Wilson Laycock. He was born in Lancashire, England, and lived for many years in North Carolina and Florida before moving to Madison in 1998. After serving in World War II with the U.S. Air Force, he worked in the construction business. He was a deacon for 47 years and a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. Mr. Laycock was a member of First Baptist Church in Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: wife, Tressie M. Laycock of Madison; daughters Joyce Woidtke of Canton and Brenda Clark of Terry; and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
