Arie Gaalswyk, 90, died Friday, April 18, at Hegg Memorial Hospital. Services were held Tuesday at the First Reformed Church with The Rev. Roger Voskuil and Dave Schwabauer officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery with the Porter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Arie Gaalswyk was born in The Netherlands. He married Bertha VerDoorn on December 12, 1913. He had been the director of the Big-4 elevator at Sheldon for 10 years, and a director of the Farmers Elevator of Rock Valley for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, three sons, Joe and Alvin of Rock Valley and Tom of Alvord; two daughters, Mrs. Cornie (Mary) Huyser of Inwood and Mrs. Elmer (Elsie) Kooima of Rock Valley. Also 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
