JJ, the data on the gedcoms at the ucalgary.ca site comes from my submission to Family Tree Maker back in 1998 (Tree #5681). The individual website has a common denominator of the Buckner family of which we descend on the West line. The Buckner line on this site goes back to Thomas Buckner born about 1600, the son of Hugh Buckner. Thomas' son was John Buckner born 2 Feb 1630, Oxford, England and died about 1695. Our line goes: you, me, Dad, Warner West, John William West, William Ellis West (who married Cincinnati O. Williams), Jesse West, Charles H. West (who married Aquilla Buckner), Aquilla was the daughter of Jesse Buckner(See photo: http://www.geocities.com/dabugman.geo/jbuckner.htm OCCUPATION: Baptist minister BIRTH: ABT. 1740, VA DEATH: 8 Apr 1826, Siler City, Chatham Co., NC WILL: 3 Mar 1826, Chatham Co., NC), 1. John Buckner & his wife, 2. Sarah Buckner (Sarah's father was Thomas Buckner brother to Richard Buckner - the father of Sarah's husband, John. Thusly, John & wife, Sarah were 1st. cousins), the line continues with John Buckner [1630-1695] (father of Richard & Thomas), Thomas Buckner, Hugh Buckner, (one more generation) Richard Buckner born 1451 in Berkshire, England & died in 1548. And that is as far back as I go on the Buckner line. However, John & Sarah's grandmother was Deborah Ferrers (wife of John Buckner [1630-1695]) was a direct descendent of William I through her mother, Mary Bernard! That line goes: Mary Bernard, Thomas Bernard, Francis Bernard, John Bernard III, John Bernard II, Margaret Scrope (wife of John Bernard I), Elizabeth Scrope, John Scrope, Margaret Wells, Margaret de Mowbray, John de Mowbray II, Joan Plantagenet, Henry, Edmund, Henry III (born 1206 died 16 Nov 1272), John, Henry II, Maltilda, Henry I, William I (better known as "William the Conqueror"). Most of the single named ancestors were Kings from the Plantagenet family. And that is 32 generations counting you!!! Aquilla's father, Jesse Buckner, was a Baptist Minister and was a Private in the Revolutionary War. Hope this will be of interest to you, JJ. Dad References
