ANTHONY ARNOLD WILL, 9 SEP 1823

In the name of God Amen I Anthony Arnold of Guernsey County and the state of Ohio being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in the manor and form following that is to say first I give and divide unto my beloved wife Fanny Arnold the one half of the South West Qtr of section No. 3 Township No. Two and Range No. Seven it being the West half 2nd Quarter to be divided north and south for and during her natural life or widowhood likewise three head of horses three cows and calves nine head of sheep eleven head of hogs one featherbed and furniture and all my farming utensils household and kitchen furniture not otherwise disposed of my said wife to pay all my just debts likewise all the grain and provender of every kind that is on the farm. I do also give and devise to my youngest daughter Fanny Arnold the above described half quarter section to her, her heirs and assigns forever at the decease of her mother or the close of her widowhood likewise one bindle briefer one year old and one featherbed - I do also give and devise to my grandson Talbert Shipley son of my daughter Rachel Shipley at her request on her death bed for me to give her son what I might be disposed to give her that is the east half of the above described quarter section of land to him his heirs and assigns forever and in case the said Talbert my grandson should die not having a lawful begotten heir or a legal will then in that case to be equally divided between his two sisters Jinny and Oberie Shipley should die without lawful begotten heirs then in that case to be equally divided between my other children likewise to the said Talbert one feather bed, I do also give and devise to my grandson Anthony Orr son of my daughter Sary Orr one half quarter section of land, the East half of the South West quarter of section No. four, township No. ten Range No. seven to him his heirs and assigns forever and in case he should die with out lawful begotten heirs of his body or legal will then in that case to be equally divided between the rest of my said daughters children. I do further give and bequest to the children of my daughter Airey Wineman one hundred and fifty dollars lawful money to be equally divided among them as they arrive of age or at the discretion of my son Wm Arnold to their use before that time if he sees they need the said hundred and fifty dollars and to be subject to draw interest after the laps of five years from my decease and as to the balance or residue of my estate I give to my wife Fanny Arnold to her use and better support and I do hereby appoint my son Wm Arnold and my friend John McPherson sole executors of my estate of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of Sept in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and twenty three signed sealed published and declared by the above named Anthony Arnold to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed as witnesses in the presence of the testator Test James Stevens, Cornelius Duddell Anthony Arnold presented for record March 20, 1847 X and recorded the same March 23, 1847 Mark
