Anthony, as eldest son, inherited the ancestral lands and the recently built Alsop Manor. He and his wife were living there with son John in 1611. Anthony and Jane had six sons and three daughters. He was living in 1611. The Visitation of Derbyshire 1662-1664 shows the family arms as: Sable, three doves with wings expanded or, beaked and membered gules; and the Crest: A dove or, beaked and membered gules, holding in the beak 'an eare of corne' argent. It reads: "Anthony Alsop de Alsop in the Dale in com Derb: mar. Jane daughter of Richard Smith de Combridge Com Staff: and had issue: Sons: 1. John 2. Rannulphus 3. Timothy 4. Thomas 5. Ralph 6. Marmaduke Daughters 1. Ann mar. Walton de Eggington 2. Sarah 3. Dorothy mr. Henry Hopkinson de Bonshall (see also visitation of Derby 1611, p. 41)" |
