Ann Montgomery was probably born in Virginia, perhaps in a part that later became Kentucky near present-day Harrodburg. She married first circa 1770, to General Benjamin McKinley Logan, and with him had eight children, including Ezekiel, David, William, Jane, Benjamin, Jr., and Robert.

After General Logan's death, she married Col. James Knox on 1 Jan 1805, in Shelby County, KY.

  3.   Concerning the relationship between Cynthia Montgomery and William Montgomery Sr. Thomas Marshall Green, Historic Families of Kentucky (Cincinnati: Robert Clarke &Co., 1889),133. It is reasonably certain that Cynthia was a granddaughter of the elder William; some private family trees list John as her father, but others do not. Green describes Anne Montgomery Logan, a daughter of William Sr., as Cynthia’s aunt, so the connection is not completely fanciful.
